PIRATE JACK
Well, unfortunately the shelter isn't always about cute pictures and funny stories. There is the painful side to deal with more often than we would ever like. This is PIRATE JACK. He's about a year old. He showed up at the right place and definitely the right time as he knew Leighanne would do anything to help him. So she contacted the SVAPL and we took him (and Poppy) into the vet. JACK had to be taken into emergency surgery right away to remove his eye. He might have to go thru a dental surgery as well but we need to wait for his eye to heal up first. It turns out this dog...this VERY SMALL dog...was likely subjected to abuse. It is speculated that his injuries were caused from being kicked. JACK is about 15lbs. He's scared and hungry. I would love nothing more than to find the person that did this and show them the same mercy they showed Jack. However, that's not the way life works.
How life works is that Leighanne saved this handsome boy and got him to us. How it works is that Lana (vet) took him into surgery right away to help start the process of removing his pain caused by his injuries. And how it will continue to work is that we at the SVAPL will keep this dog fed and warm and loved until we find a suitable forever home for him that will continue to do the same. THAT'S how this life works.
As you can imagine, JACK'S medical bills will be higher than most. Our GoFundMe campaign is steadily climbing and we're just shy of $1500 right now. We need to keep this going. We need to keep sharing the post with others and donating what we can. EVERY BIT HELPS US HELP DEFENSELESS DOGS LIKE JACK GET THE HELP THEY NEED! Please...spread the word.

And please...say a quick prayer or send some positive thoughts JACK'S way so he can recover quickly and without complications.
